Pulwama: The residents of Khrew area of Awantipora sub division in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday complained that the Lethpora-Khrew road was in a dilapidated condition owing to the non-serious approach of the authorities to start the repairs.

The residents said the road has developed potholes at different spots and were hopeful of government attention towards this road much to the annoyance of the locals.

“We were expecting that this road will be macadamised this year but it was left unattended which shows indifferent attitude of the government towards people of this area,” the locals said.

Waheed Ahmad, a local resident said that this vital road was macadamised a few years back and was in better condition at several spots. “But there are many spots where its condition is very dilapidated. The government should have at least done the patch work to fill the potholes and also repaired the cracks developed on the road,” he said.

The residents said the road has curves and slope at several spots where the road is majorly damaged and developed big potholes as well.

“The condition of the road at these spots turns worse mainly in bad weather conditions which can prove fatal,” another resident said.

Locals said the road connects cement factories of Khrew with the National Highway which witnesses heavy flow of traffic.

The resident urged the government to look into the matter at an earliest and repair the road to avoid any untoward.
