Anantnag: The residents of Marhama, Dadoo and its adjacent areas in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday expressed their excitement over the government decision to upgrade the vital Marhama-Dadoo road.

The residents of the area said the road was lying in a dilapidated condition and its up gradation will give a sigh of relief to the local residents.

The residents extended their gratitude to the government for fulfilling their long pending demand which will benefit people of around half dozen villages.

They urged the government to complete the project in a given time so that they will not suffer anymore.

Executive Engineer PMGSY Anantnag Syed Ishfaq Ahmad said that this road will be upgraded under PMGSY III and it will be completed in one year.

“The foundation stone has been already laid and work will start in near future,” he said.

Notably, the length of the road is around five kilometres.

“Whatever will be required like drain, culvert will be constructed on the road and it will be completed in one year,” he said.

He said that the road is to be constructed at cost of Rs four crore which includes around 40 lacs for maintenance work for five years.
