Anantnag: A land donor in G B Khalil Naina area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday locked a water supply scheme saying that the government failed to provide him a job which was assured to him for providing land to the government.

Gulzar Ahmad, a resident of Naina said that he donated around one kanal land in 2013 to the PHE department and the government had assured him that he will be given a job as compensation.

“But nine years have passed and I have been visiting from one office to another to get the job assured to me. Unfortunately, nothing has been done so far in this regard,” he said.

Ahmad said he donated his costly land lying along the main road and just a few hundred meters away from Highway.

“The land costs now worth crores but despite that the government has failed to keep its promise,” he said.

He threatened that he will shift his family in the building and won’t allow the department to work if the government did not fulfill his demand.

“Since last nine years I have taken up issues with government authorities at district and even divisional level but without assurances I haven’t received anything. I am still waiting for justice,” he said.

Meanwhile, an official assured him that his issue will be solved within days after which he reopened the lock of the building.
