Tral: The residents of Deedarpora and Jawaharpora in Lam Aripal belt of Tral sub division in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday demanded construction of a bridge over a local Nallah.

The residents said they were facing a lot of problems in the absence of a bridge in the area.

The residents of Deedarpora said the school going children living on the other side of the Nallah have to go through a makeshift bridge which gets washed away every summer.

Tanveer Ahmad, a local resident, said they are facing a lot of problems in the absence of a bridge.

“We are forced to carry out patients on our shoulders in absence of the bridge. In summers students hardly attend school any day as they cannot cross this Nallah to reach school,” he said.

He said many residents of the area received injuries in the recent past while crossing this Nallah.

“Unfortunately, no attention is being given by the authorities to this grave issue,” he said

The residents said they have knocked on the doors of every government authority to get their issue redressed but to no avail.

“The government once issued tender notice for the construction of the bridge but it was later cancelled due to unknown reasons,” the residents said.

The residents said they have high hopes in J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and DC Pulwama to get their grievances resolved.
