‘Kabaad se Jugaad’: RAAHAT, MC Sopore join hands to reuse plastic wastes

Sopore: A Non Government Organisation (NGO)-RAAHAT in Collaboration with Municipal Council (MC) Sopore has taken an initiative titled “Kabaad se jugaad” to reuse solid waste of plastics.

The social workers of RAAHAT use their skills and make attractive objects from wastes of bottles, old tyres, used pens and cCardboards.

Speaking to the media, chairman RAAHAT Aashiq Hussain Zaki said that they will start an awareness programme in schools and colleges about the initiative.

“Our social workers will train the students about how they can use the waste to make various useful objects out of it,” he said.

He said that the effort of creativity can provide employment as well.

“They will not only earn a dignified livelihood for their families but can help to save the environment from the menace of unattended plastic waste as well,” he said.

President Municipal Council Sopore Masrat Rasool Kar hailed the efforts of RAAHAT to take this initiative which earlier Municipal council had started in Sopore town.

“Many volunteers including female students have already joined in supporting the initiative and are working on different themes,” she said.
