Pulwama: With the onset of winter in Kashmir valley, the unscheduled power cuts have started in different areas of Tral ub division.

People from different areas of Tral on Thursday complained that winter season was yet to approach but most of the villages are facing frequent unscheduled power cuts, leaving the consumers high and dry.

“The power cuts have become common in our areas since last one fortnight due to which public is suffering,” a local said.

They alleged that the concerned department was not serious about providing proper power supply to the area.

“If unscheduled power cuts are frequent at this time, one can imagine how worst the situation will be in peak winter season,” the locals said

They further added that power outrage was affecting their business, education of students besides other daily routine works.

“Our electricity fee is being increased on a daily basis, but the ground situation is as it was years ago,” they said.

The residents urged the Power Development Department (PDD) authorities to fix the loopholes and ensure adequate power supply so that they don’t face any difficulties in the coming winter months.

Meanwhile, AEE PDD Tral Mohammad Ayoub said that they were fixing the second line of the area in view of the winter preparations.

“Due to this, we are giving breaks for some time. It will take around 10 days to fix it all and after that the area will get scheduled power supply,” he said.
