GHSS Dangiwacha Rafiabad celebrated centenary

Sopore: The oldest school in north Kashmir’s Rafiabad constituency- government Higher Secondary School Dangiwacha on Thursday celebrated its centenary.

The former director Door Darshan Srinagar Dr. Rafeeq Masoodi was the Chief Guest at the occasion while Chief Education Officer (CEO) Baramulla G M Lone and Zagar Jeelani from Gulmarg Development Authority were also present at the occasion.

The other dignitaries and stakeholders of the area were present on the occasion as well.

Hundreds of the school’s former students, teachers and staff along with the present students and faculty joined the celebrations.

In 1922, the government established a primary school on October 20 here which was later upgraded to the level of a Middle School in 1953.

After the passage of some years, school was finally upgraded into a higher secondary which was the first higher secondary institute established by the then government in the Rafiabad constituency.

Various stakeholders said the completion of 100 years of this institution was a big achievement for this area.
