Secy Floriculture inaugurates training programme at Chadoora

BUDGAM: The Commissioner Secretary Floriculture, Parks and Gardens Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad on Wednesday visited Budgam and inaugurated an awareness cum training programme on Commercial Floriculture for growers and entrepreneurs at Kanira Park in Chadoora block.

The programme was organised by the District Floriculture Office under the ongoing Jan Abhiyan (B2V4) programme in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Secretary deliberated upon various schemes including MIDH, RKVY and ATMA.

He urged upon the unemployed youth and aspiring entrepreneurs to register themselves under these schemes to start their own business in aromatic plant cultivation, cut flower and ornamental nursery for their as well as others employment and revenue generation.

He impressed upon the officers to carry out intensive training, exposure and awareness across the district to reach out to maximum number of growers attracting them towards highly profitable cultivation including lavender, Bulgarian and Kashmiri rose farming.

He also spoke about the facilities and incentives being provided by the department to the growers under various schemes.

Commissioner Secretary said that the department is strengthening the floriculture network by introducing new technologies, extending handholding to growers and creating market linkages for floriculture products at domestic and international markets.

Various resource persons, who spoke on the occasion, gave awareness about online registration of flower growers, establishment of 24× 7 helplines, technical guidance to public and related issues.

Scores of floriculture growers participated in this training cum awareness camp and discussed various things related to commercial floriculture.

Besides, several successful entrepreneurs shared their expertise and experience and urged upon the aspiring entrepreneurs to adopt farming for better a living.

Director Floriculture, who also spoke on the occasion, informed about various schemes and incentives being provided to farmers by the department.
