Three drug peddlers arrested in Handwara: Police
Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Handwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said on Monday.
He said a Police party of Police Station Handwara intercepted three suspicious persons at a checkpoint established at Kachwari Handwara.
“During their checking, officers were able to recover 29 grams of Heroin-like substance from their possession,” the spokesman said.
The police have identified the accused as Javid Ahmad Sofi son of Abdul Razak resident of Khunbal Handwara, Ghulam Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Khaliq resident of Chanjmulla Zachaldara and Haroon Ahmad Reshi son of Ghulam Mohidin resident of Warpora Zachaldara.
“They have been arrested and shifted to a police station where they remain in custody,” the spokesman said.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 266/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Handwara and further investigation has been taken up, the police spokesman said.
