JKYF holds 3 day Capacity Building Programme at Baitul Hilal Chawalgam
Srinagar: The J&K Yateem Foundation (JKYF) conducted a three day Capacity Building Programme at its orphanage Baitul Hilal at Chawalgam in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
The three day volunteers’ workshop was part of JKYF’s continuing efforts to sensitise the volunteers on ground about various issues and challenges related to voluntary social service in J&K.
Speakers urged the volunteers to adopt innovative and modern methodologies in the field of social service to meet the latest challenges in the field.
The speakers enjoined upon the volunteers to learn and equip themselves with the knowledge, methodologies and technologies to cope up with the emerging contemporary challenges, issues and problems in the social service sector.
Addressing the gathering, the speakers appreciated the sincere spirit of volunteers to spend time, energy and their own resources to join heads and hands for creating an enabling environment for ensuring tangible socio economic development to economically weaker sections.
Speakers urged the participants to be proactive in building their capacities as volunteers to help the poorest among the poor and needy in a coordinated professional manner.
Noted columnist and author Dr Maroof Shah in his speech quoted the examples of Sufi Saints and stressed upon the volunteers to serve the society while following the Khankah model.
He enjoined upon JKYF to establish residential quarters in Srinagar for the students and the patients coming from far flung areas so that they don’t suffer on this account.
Earlier, Programme Executive Trainings and Guidance Mehmood ur Reyaz in his welcome address asked volunteers to follow the organizational discipline in letter and spirit in their day to day activities.
Noted Islamic Scholar Showkat Shaheen in his address spoke on the theme “Life of prophet (PBUH) before the prophet hood” and stressed upon the volunteers to learn from examples set by the Prophet while taking care of the downtrodden sections of the society.
Educationist Bashir Talib while speaking on “Role of volunteers in social service ” advised the management of JKYF to provide quality education to the orphan students by taking advantage of the latest educational tools and technologies.
Former income tax officer Shabir Ahmad Handoo while giving details of the existing government schemes advised the Humanitarian Aid Organizations to avail the benefits of these schemes and strictly abide by the laws governing these organisations.
Speaking about the “Role of Social Media In Social Service Sector” PE press and PR Division emphasized the importance of social media in disseminating the message of social service work among cross sections of people.
He urged the volunteers to share positive and informative content on social media platforms for the information and education about the moral value system for the benefit of the society.
CEO Human Welfare Voluntary Organisation (HWVO) Feroz Ahmad spoke on “Alternative Care for Children In Need And Role of Volunteers” and laid stress on skill based education through alternative care.
Physiotherapist Dr Sheikh Aariz spoke on the theme “First Aid Training” ad shared relevant tips to deal with any emergency while undertaking social service activities particularly during disaster management activities.
District Representative Pulwama Mohammad Amin Bhat shared some painful incidents of disrespectful treatment meted out to deprived sections of our society.
He stressed the need to tackle the issues of deserving people with utmost care keeping in view their psychological state of mind.
Secretary Finance JKYF Mohammad Ishaq Sheikh presented the details about the work, aims and objectives of the organisation since the inception of the organisation.
Senior volunteer Nissar ul Haq spoke on the theme “Mercy for all”. While invoking holy Quran and the sayings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Social activist Javaid Ahmad Najar spoke on the theme “Need of Professionalism in social service” and enumerated five principles to be followed while dealing with the deserving families and individuals.
Educationist Shafeeq Khaki spoke about “Responsibilities towards the other creatures”.
Former ADDC Shiekh Abdul Hamid applauded the teachers and the management of Baitul Hilal Chawalgam for providing quality education to the students at Al Hilal Educational Institute Chawalgam KULGAM.
Chairman Mohammad Rafiq Lone presented the vote of thanks at the occasion.
He urged speakers and experts to continuously engage with JKYF for guidance of volunteers for more fruitful results.
All the district representatives presented the progress reports of their respective districts for the ist half of the financial year 2022.
