Department of Wildlife Protection, WD Kashmir kick starts Wildlife Week
SRINAGAR: The Department of Wildlife Protection J&K Government, Wetlands Division (WD) Kashmir on Monday kick started the celebration of wildlife week.
The events are being organised in collaboration with the Department of School Education, Kashmir at Camping Ground of Hokersar Wetland Conservation Reserve.
Wildlife Mitras, Volunteers, Panchayat members of the villages around Hokersar Wetland Reserve and different NGOs besides others attended the event.
Range Officer, Wildlife Protection Range Lakes (Hokersar) and various officers/officials of the department were also present at the programme.
During the function, different speakers highlighted the role of the target groups for conservation of Wildlife for our future generations.
Wildlife Warden Wetlands Division Kashmir Ifshan Dewan in her address acquainted the students about the importance of Wildlife and laid stress on participation of students at grass roots level for wildlife conservation.
At the end of the function Range Officer Lakes Sajid Farooq appealed all the stakeholders especially school going students, youth and to those who are directly or indirectly connected with Wetlands to join hands with the department for the protection and perpetuation of the existing Wetlands in the valley who are fast disappearing by the greed of the people.
A debate on the topic “Wildlife Conservation”, Signature campaign and cleanliness drive around Hokersar Wetland, Chatlum Wetland Conservation Reserve was also organised.
The students of Government Girls High School Zainakote, Girls HS Gund Hasssi Bhat, GHSS Daharmuna and GHS Wadwan and GHS Pampore participated in the events.
