Sopore Mega football tournament concludes
Sopore: The first industrial invitation cup (football tournament) concluded on Saturday after the final match of the tournament was played at Khushal stadium Sopore.
The tournament was organised by Industrial Estate Sopore in collaboration with J&k Sports Council.
The J&K bank football club clinched the title of the tournament and emerged as the winner.
As per the organising body, 48 teams across Kashmir participated in the tournament.
The final match was played between J&K Bank FC and ARCO football club.
Both teams played well from the beginning, however J&K bank FC succeeded to score four goals in the allotted 90 minutes of the game.
One goal was scored in the first half and three goals in the second half of the match. ARCO FC failed to score a single goal against their opponent team.
Secretary J&K Sports Council Nuzhat Gull was chief guest on the occasion while joint secretary sports council Bashir Ahmad Bhat and other sports dignitaries of Sopore were also present during the match.
In her address Secretary Sports Council applauded the Industrial Association Sopore for organising this mega football tournament with a number of matches played under floodlights.
She said that parents can play an important role in channelising their children towards sports and saving them from drugs and other illegal activities.
She said that the Sports council will support to boost all sports activities and by way of organising coaching camps for budding players in valley.
The industrial organising body for the invitation cup comprises a sports enthusiasts team headed by their patron and renowned social activist Javeed Ahmad Bhat who has played a vital role in conceiving the idea for the tournament.
In his address, Bhat expressed gratitude to the Sports Council for making historical things possible for youth in Jammu and Kashmir.
The civil organizations, senior sports personalities of the town, and locals thanked the administration especially J&K sports council for building sports infrastructure and passing directions of community involvement in sports.
They also thanked JKSC for tie-up with the Industrial Association Sopore to make this mega tournament a great success.
