CDA Sopore holds awareness program on Drug de-addiction

Sopore: A Day long programme against Drug Abuse under “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” was organised by the Chemists and Druggists Association (CDA) of Sopore on Wednesday.
The people from the chemists and druggists fraternity of various areas of Sopore and Rafiabad attended the program to create awareness about the menace of substance abuse.
Deputy Drug Control Kashmir Nighat Jabeen was chief guest on the occasion while assistant drug controller Baramulla Reema Gazala, Drug inspector Sopore Shabir Ahmad, students and a number of chemists and druggists of sub division Sopore were present at the event.
In her address, Kashmir Nighat Jabeen stressed on the participants particularly students to play their role in eradicating the menace from society.
She said the drug abuse has reached to a dangerous level in J&K and everyone needs to come forward and play her/his role in fighting this menace.
She asked the chemists and parents to keep vigil on their wards so as to prevent them from falling into a death trap of drug abuse.
She stressed on the need for moral education of the children of present day age and appealed to both parents as well as teachers to ensure that children do not fall prey to any social evil.
She also urged upon the student community to concentrate on studies and also take part in sports and athletic activities.
On the occasion several social activists of Sopore discussed various aspects of drug abuse-causes, effects and prevention.
They also expressed concern over the increased rate of drug abuse in the society.
President CDA Sopore, Altaf Ahmad Sofi delivered a vote of thanks to participants for making this event successful.
