Shopian: The residents of Chanchmarg Pushwari and its adjacent areas in Rajpora area of Shopian district are rejoicing over proper road connectivity after the authorities macadamised a four kilometer road, connecting several villages.
The area has got proper road facility after the passage of seven decades, the locals said.
The residents said the PMGSY constructed the road around 12 years ago, however, it was left in dilapidated condition, causing inconveniences to the masses.
“We had to carry goods on our back or horses as we had no proper road connectivity during all these years,” a local resident said.
The residents said they were craving for basic road connectivity for the past seven decades.
“The students, children, elderly people and patients used to face hardships on a daily basis,” said Rouf Khan, a local resident.
The residents said the issue of road connectivity was brought into the notice of higher ups several times but they were deprived of the basic facility all these years.
“But now our grievance has been addressed and hundreds of households have been provided road connectivity,” they said.
The residents thanked Deputy Commissioner Shopian, DDC vice Chairman and officials of PMGSY for fulfilling their long pending demand.
