MC Sopore books 11 persons for using banned SUP
Sopore: The Municipal Council (MC) Sopore on Wednesday booked 11 persons for using Single Use Plastic (SUP) items in the town.
An official from MC Sopore told Kashmir Vision that 11 persons were booked under section 290 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for keeping banned SUP.
“A formal letter has also been sent to the concerned police station for registration of FIR against these persons,” the official said.
President MC Sopore, Masarat Kar said that at least 497 kgs of polythene was been seized in 2022 in Sopore while an amount of Rs 62000 fine was imposed on the violators as well.
She said that 11 FIRs have also been registered in this regard at the concerned police stations in Sopore town.
“Strict action will be taken against the violators who are selling or using plastic bags and banned plastic items in sub division Sopore,” she said.
