FCS&CA seals three Mutton shops, one poultry shop

SRINAGAR: The Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCSCA) department on Wednesday held a special to check illegal marketting of eatables.
The inspection was held following complaints against mutton sellers for overcharging customers.
During the inspection 507 business establishments were inspected and a Rs.41300 was collected as fine from 102 erring shopkeepers for violation of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.
Also, three mutton shops and one poultry shop was also sealed.
“During the current financial year Rs 5833700 has been collected as fine from 12440 erring traders in the valley,” the official hand out reads, adding that 189 establishments have also been sealed and police complaints against 12 erring traders were lodged as well.
“The erring traders have been reprimanded to remain careful in future. The drive will continue in the same passion in future as well and whosoever found violating the norms will be brought to justice,” it reads.
