Anantnag: In a first of its kind, a road connecting Dadoo village in Bijbehara Tehsil of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district has been macadamised by the authorities.
The move has put an end to the decades-long miseries and sufferings of the people living in the area.
The residents of Dadoo village expressed their happiness after witnessing macadamisation of their road for the first time ever.
“Since 1947, we have never witnessed macadam on this vital road which connects our village to the rest of the district and other towns,” Mohammad Shaban, a local resident said.
He said the village was ignored by the successive governments and officials hardly bother to visit the area.
“This is for the first time that this road is being macadamised which has brought cheers to the whole village,” he said.
The residents said that the school going children, elderly people and patients were the worst sufferers as the road would get submerged in water during rainfall.
They said they knocked the door of every higher authority several times in this regard but nothing was done on the ground so far.
“Since the last three years, we have continuously taken up this issue with higher ups of concerned departments and finally the road was macadamised now,” the residents added.
Locals of the area have extended their gratitude to the concerned officials for macadamising the road.
They also appealed to them to repair the inner road of the village as well which are lying in dilapidated conditions.
