Residents demand work as per DPR

Anantnag: The residents of Shalgam village in Bijbehara hamlet of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday alleged that work on link roads in the area was going on at snail’s pace.
The residents said the work on four link roads under NABARD was sanctioned a long ago but it has been left midway due to unknown reasons.
“Work on four link roads was started by R&B but due to unknown reasons work has been left midway,” said Mushtaq Ahmad, a local resident.
He said that big boulders have been laid on these roads which makes it difficult for passersby to walk on roads.
“The work is not being done as per DPR and executive agency work for a few days and then it remains suspended for months together,” complained Shakeel Rather, another resident.
Locals said that fruit season has started and they were expecting that roads will be completed well in time so that growers can ferry their fruits smoothly.
They said that the condition of these roads has turned from bad to even worse.
“We brought this issue to notice of higher ups time and again but nothing has happened on ground,” they said.
The residents urged the higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that they can heave a sigh of relief.
