New colony residents of Pulwama rue lack of basic facilities

Pulwama: The residents of Zargar Mohalla in Pulwama town on Tuesday decried lack of basic facilities in the town.
The residents of the area said that Zargar Mohalla has been neglected on all fronts which has left them to fend for themselves.
Mohammad Ashan, a local resident said that area lacks drinking water, electricity, roads and other basic facilities.
“We have constructed some small bridges and link roads on our own expenses but the government has failed to take any step to provide basic facilities in the area,” he said.
Sartaj Ahmad, another local resident said that no electricity poles have been installed in the area and the residents bought electric wire out of their own pockets for electricity supply.
“The pipes in part of the area have been installed but they are dry as of now,” he said.
Locals from the area said that they have brought this issue in notice of higher ups several times but to no avail.
They urged the higher ups to look into the matter and take immediate steps in this regard so that locals won’t suffer any more.
