Anantnag: The residents of Dadoo Village in Bijbehara hamlet in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday alleged that funds were mismanaged at sports ground of the village.
The residents of the area alleged that around Rs five lakh were sanctioned for repairing the sports ground at Dadoo, however, the contractor has hardly spent Rs 70000-800000 on it.
“It seems some government officials are also hand in glove with the contractor as no official has questioned the contractor if a huge amount of money was sanctioned then why only few thousands were spent on it,” the residents alleged.
Moreover, while leveling of the ground, the soil extracted from the ground was dumped in the dead of night and nobody is aware of its whereabouts.
“It was the duty of the Rural Development Department (RDD) and Rural Engineering Wing to check work on the ground but unfortunately it seems, they too have failed to take its cognizance,” the residents said.
They residents demanded that the government must constitute a high level committee in this regard to enquire into the matter and take strict action against the erring officials and blacklist the concerned contractor if found involved.
