Five years on, Mini secretariat Tral awaits completion

Pulwama: Despite the passage of five years, a mini-secretariat in Tral town of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district is awaiting completion.
The residents said no work has been done on the project from last three years.
“The mini-secretariat Tral was sanctionedin 2017 with an estimated cost of around Rs seven crore, but due to paucity of funds the project is nowhere near completion,” a local resident said.
He said the mini-secretariat was sanctioned with an aim to provide all services in Tral and to cut down travel time from Tral town to district headquarters Pulwama.
“The portion of land which was under horticulture department was given for the purpose of the mini Secretariat but now over five years have passed and it is nowhere near completion,” they said.
They said that even after completion of five years only 30 percent work has been done and since last three years work is on complete halt.
“The residents of far flung areas of Tral are facing lot of problems in order to reach to Pulwama to get their work done,”Kousar Ahmad, a local resident said.
The residents said that commissioning of Mini secretariat will be beneficial for people as it will enable people to avail benefit of every service at Tral only which will save their time and money as well.
“The issue was brought in notice of the authorities several times but to no avail,” the locals said.
Locals urged higher ups to look into the matter and complete the project as an earliest so that they can heave a sigh of relief.
Officials of JKPCC Pulwama said that before abrogation of article 370 local, an amount of Rs one Crore was sanctioned from MLA funds for the project which is the only money they have received so far.
“Fresh DPR for pending works has been forwarded to higher ups and we are hopeful that it will be approved soon and funds will be made available so that work on the project will be resumed,” he said.
