Police arrests drug peddler in Budgam
Srinagar: Police in Budgam have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession, a police statement said on Monday.
As per the police statement, a police party of Police Station Khansahib intercepted a vehicle (Tata Sumo) bearing registration No JK03-8539 at a checkpoint established at Yarikha.
“The vehicle was driven by one person identified as Manzoor Ahmed Ganie son of Abdul Gani Ganie from Dabipora Yarikha,” the handout reads.
It reads that officers were able to recover 140grams Charas like substance and cash worth Rs 11845 during the search.
“The recoveries are believed to be the proceeds of narcotic crime from his possession,” the handout reads.
The accused has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
“Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized,” it reads.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 147/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Khansahib and investigation has been initiated, the statement reads.
