Sopore Police arrests 3 LeT OGWs

Sopore: Police said that three OGWs of LeT were arrested in Sopore outskirts in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday evening.
In a statement issued here, Police spokesman said that during evening hours of August 26 a joint naka/MVCP was established by Sopore police, 22 RR, 179 BN CRPF at Bomai chowk in the jurisdiction of Police Station Bomai.
“During checking a suspicious movement of three persons coming from Goripora towards Bomai Sopore was noted and were subsequently asked to stop,” the spokesman said, adding that they tried to flee from the spot but were tactfully apprehended by the security forces.
“Upon their personal search three Hand Grenades, nine Posters, 12 Pakistani Flags were recovered from their possession,” he said.
After preliminary questioning, Police have identified the arrested terror operatives as Shariq Ashraf son of Mohammad Ashraf wani from Hadipora Rafiabad, Saqlain Mushtaq son of Mushtaq Ahmed War from Warpora Sopore and Tawfeeq Hassan Sheikh son of Ghulam Hassan sheikh from Fatehgarh Baramulla.
“Preliminary investigations have revealed that the arrested persons are OGWs of proscribed terrorist organisation LeT and were in a constant search of an opportunity to carry out attacks on security forces and civilians including outside labourers,” the police spokesman said.
Accordingly, a case has been registered at Police Station Bomai under relevant sections of law and further investigation is still going on, he said.
