Ameerabad Tral residents demand macadamisation of road
Pulwama: The residents of Ameerabad area in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday demanded macadamisation of their road.
The residents of Gousia Colony Ameerabad Tral said that the road leading to the area was in dilapidated condition as it has not been macadamised for several years.
“Minor link roads are being macadamised everywhere but due to unknown reasons our road which is connecting over hundreds of households has been left unattended,” Sheikh Nazir a local resident said.
He said that this road connects at least six villages with each other and is the shortest path between them but has been neglected.
“The school going children and patients are suffering due to the dilapidated condition of the road,” said Javaid Ahmad, another resident.
He said that since three years locals have been visiting offices of concerned authorities and this year they were informed that the road will be macadamised.
“But unfortunately, the road hasn’t been macadamised as of now,” the residents said.
The locals said that they suffer in case of emergencies as the road has developed big potholes giving tough time to the commuters.
The residents said they brought this issue to the notice of higher ups repeatedly but they were given only verbal assurances.
“Unfortunately these assurances prove a hoax on ground,” the locals said.
The locals urged the authorities to investigate the matter saying that they were informed that macadamisation was already sanctioned for the road. “But till date our road has not been macadamised,” the locals said.
The residents urged the concerned authorities to look into the matter at an earliest and macadamise the road so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.
