Seminar on drug abuse held in Sopore
Sopore: The Jammu and Kashmir People’s Education Trust (PET) along with the (PET) welfare society organized an awareness seminar on “drug abuse” at Dar-ul-Salam children’s home here at Sopore on Wednesday.
The children of J&K PET welfare society started with the welcome address and delivered talks on the evils and bad consequences of drug abuse.
On the occasion Prof. Dr Mohammad Sultan Khuroo was the chief guest while the retired justice Bashir Ahmad Kirmani presided over the function and Prof. Dr Mushtaq Margoob was the guest of honour.
Other dignitaries including president traders federation Sopore Haji Mohammad Ashraf Ganaie, civil Society members, Mufti Bashir Ahmad Qasmi of Darul Uloom SoporeSopore.
The seminar was attended by large gathering of respectable people representing various sections of society.
Chief guest Dr. Mohammad Sultan Khuroo in his address spoke on the dangers of drug abuse and highlighted the need for saying no to drugs to rescue our future generations.
Prop Dr Mushtaq Margoob a reputed psychiatrist while addressing the gathering and revised alarm on the menace that was spreading like wildfire in the society.
The chairman of J&K PET welfare society Prof. Mohammad Muzaffar War highlighted the role and responsibilities of every member of the society for generating awareness and awakening to curb the menace.
He stressed that institutions have a big role and responsibility to take on the situation.
The seminar was wrapped up by Prof. Aslam who implored the audience to spread the message so that timely remedial measures are put in place and an alert is sounded for rescuing our youth and future.
The seminar was concluded with the vote of thanks by the secretary of the society Mohammad Sadiq Wani.
