Police arrests four drug peddlers in Awantipora

Srinagar: The police on Friday have arrested four drug peddlers in Awantipora and recovered a huge quantity of contraband substances from their possession, the police spokesman said.
In a handout issued here, the spokesman said that Police Station Tral received specific information that one person namely Showkat Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat resident of Nadar Tral has indulged in drug peddling and hoarded huge quantity of narcotic substances in his residential house.

“On receipt of this information, a police party led by SHO Police Station Tral along with Executive Magistrate concerned raided the specific spot,” the handout reads.
The police officers were able to recover 433Kgs of grinded Poppy Straw from the residential house during the search.
“The accused along with other three associates were arrested on the spot,” the spokesman said.
The Police have identified them as Tawseef Ah Rather son of Ghulam Rasool resident of Panner Tral, Muzafar Ahmad Lone son of Ali Mohammad resident of Check Noorpora and M Saleem Khan son of Ghulam Ahmad Khan resident of Handoora Tral.
“They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody,” he said.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 132/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Tral and further investigation has been initiated.
