One mutton shop, two vegetable shops sealed

SRINAGAR: The Enforcement Wing of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) department on Wednesday recovered a fine of Rs. 30500 from 75 erring shopkeepers for violation of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.
During the inspection, one mutton shop and two vegetable shops were also sealed as well.
“The penal action was taken against the erring during market checking of 335 business establishments,” the official handout reads.
“During the current financial year, an amount of Rs 4702800 has been collected as fine from 10020 erring traders for violating E C Act,” it reads.
The handout reads that 174 establishments have been sealed and police complaints against 11 erring traders were lodged as well.
“The erring lot has been reprimanded to remain careful in future. The drive will continue in the same passion in future as well and whosoever found violating the norms will be brought to justice,” the handout reads.
The consumers have been asked to register their complaints on toll free number 18001807011.
