Police arrests 5 drug peddlers in Budgam

Srinagar: The JK Police have arrested five drug peddlers in Budgam while huge quantity of contraband substances was recovered from their possession, the police spokesman said on Thursday.
In a handout issued here, the police spokesman said that Police Station Budgam received a specific information about the activities of drug peddling in Nasrullapora area of Budgam.
“A Police party of Police Station Budgam rushed on the spot, arrested five persons and recovered 112Kgs of Poppy Straw from three vehicles bearing registration No.s JK01P-8028, PB10GK-0237 & PB10HT 2263,” he said.
The accused have been identified as as Jugwinder Singh son of Jagtaar Singh, Jagjeewan Singh son of Sukhsinder Singh, Bailjinder Singh son of Pritpal Singh all residents of Gujrwal Ludhiana Punjab, Baint Singh son of Paramjeet Singh resident of Mallah Ludhiana Punjab and Karam Singh son of Randhir Singh resident of Maina Singhwala Mooga Punjab.
“The vehicles used in the commission of crime have also been seized. However, one notorious drug peddler fled from the spot, efforts are on to effect his arrest,” the police handout reads.
The police has registered a case vide FIR No.271/2022 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Budgam and further investigation has been initiated as well.
