JKP organises Thana Diwas across Kashmir
Srinagar: The J&K Police on Thursday organized ‘Thana Diwas’ at various Police establishments across the Kashmir, a police spokesman said.
The spokesman in a handout issued here said that the Thana Diwas’ was held as part of public outreach programme and an initiative by the J&K government.
The Programmes were chaired by the district and zonal heads in their respective jurisdictional areas.
The meetings were attended by citizens, civil society members, Numberdars, Chowkidars, representatives of Traders Federation, Transporters, Auqaf Committees, Panchs and Sarpanches.
During the events, the participants highlighted various issues of public importance and they were assured by the chairing officers that their genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority.
While speaking on these occasions, the chairing officers reiterated that the main aim of organising ‘Thana Divas, was to improve efficiency, transparency and accountability in policing at grass-root level and to develop confidence among the people.
“The participants were impressed upon to co-operate with Police in maintaining law and order and crime free atmosphere in their respective areas,” the handout reads.
The participants were also stressed upon to co-operate with Police in curbing the drug menace and in identifying anti-national and anti-social elements who always try to disrupt the peaceful environment.
They appreciated the role of police for holding such meetings and assured their full support and cooperation in curbing the menace of social evils in the society.
