Sopore hosts 2nd Sheikh-ul-Alam Kabaddi tournament
Sopore: The 2nd addition of Sheikh-ul-Alam kabaddi cup tournament kickstarted at at subhan stadium in Sopore town on Sunday.
The tournament is organised by Sheikh-ul-Alam district kabaddi association Baramulla in collaboration with J&K Sports council and is sponsored by industrial association Sopore.
The inaugural match of the tournament was played in between Red Dragon Hajin and Gulshan Kabaddi Club Trumgund.
Both the teams played well but Red dragon Hajin scored 51 points while the opponent team succeeded to get only 27 points. Red dragon Hajin won the match by margin of 24 points.
Large gathering of spectators enjoyed the match.
Joint director J&K Sports council Bashir Ahmad Bhat presided over as the chief guest.
As many as 16 teams from across Kashmir province participated in the tournament.
In his address joint director said that sports acts as best platform where our talented youth can channelize their potential.
He said that various initiatives are being taken to promote sports culture among enthusiastic and aspiring youth adding that administration is commited to develop sports infrastructure.
