LCMA conducts demolition drive in Srinagar areas

SRINAGAR: The Enforcement Wing of Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA) Monday carried out a demolition drive in various areas of Srinagar.
The demolition drive was held against illegal constructions and encroachments in Braine Phaloo, Batpora, Ishber Khonun Mohalla, Hakeem Mohalla Bagwanpora Lal Bazar, Nowpora and Kanitar/Saderbal.
During the drive, illegal structures including three 2nd storeys and one 3rd storey that were under construction were demolished.
Besides one wooden shed, one Shopping complex, one plinth and one shed structure was also razed to ground. Legal action was also initiated against the violators.
In an official handout issued here, the department has directed people residing within the LCMA jurisdiction and in the lake not to go for any sort of illegal constructions or encroachments.
“The Enforcement wing will continue demolition drives against illegal constructions and removal of encroachments,” the handout reads.
“Strict action will be taken against the violators who shall be found indulging in illegal construction activities,” it reads.
The handout reads that CCTV cameras have been installed in order to curb the ferrying of illegal building material within LCMA jurisdiction.
“The locals residing in the area of LCMA are informed to apply for online building permissions through LCMA online official portal or website,” it reads.
