Disaster management, mock drill programme observed in Sopore

Sopore: A Disaster preparedness and awareness day was conducted by District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMA) Baramulla in collaboration with SDRF Baramulla and Government Degree college sopore.
Principal Government Degree College (GDC) Sopore Dr Salma Ahad was the chief guest at the occasion while SSP Sopore Shabir Nawab was the guest of honour.
Deputy controller SDRF was also present at the event.
The function was inaugurated by professor Salma Ahad. In her address she appreciated her students and volunteers for being proactive in disaster management practices. She also said that Disaster management is taken as a subject in the college.
SSP Sopore in his address highlighted the root causes of major disaster that sub division sopore was facing in present times.
He however appreciated the SDRF, civil defence for being robust and prompt in response and recovery processes of the disaster management.
Consultant Disaster management Bilquees Dar highlighted the importance of community preparedness and measures to be taken into consideration.
She also appreciated the volunteerism of the youth of Sopore during her speech.
At the event, training on first aid, search and rescue and fire fighting was done by the professionals of SDRF and Fire and Emergency employees.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Professor Shams of GDC Sopore.
