11 years on, Khahdar-Kapran bridge awaits completion
Anantnag: Even after elapse of over 11 years a vital bridge in Kapran hamlet of Anantnag district is awaiting completion.
The delay in completion of work on bridge has left the locals at the receiving end.
Locals from Khahdar Kapran, the last village of Dooru Shahabad constituency said that their area is lacking basic amenities in modern age.
“Clots were made for the bridge in 2011 but even after 10 years, work on the bridge has not started till date,” Gulzar Ahmad, a local resident said.
He said the locals approached the officials number of times but nothing was done on ground.
“The foundation of the bridge was laid in year 2011 during NC-Congress regime. Since then we have requested all successive regimes to look into the matter but no heed was paid to our grievances,” the locals said.
They said they were facing immense problems as no vehicle reaches their village.
“We carry patients on shoulder for over a kilometer to take him/her to the hospital,” the locals said.
Also, the locals said the school going children of the area skip schools water level of the nallah increases.
The locals urged the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag to personally intervene into the matter and ensure that work on the bridge gets completed within a time bound manner.
