Pampore boy to participate in national MMA, international Thai boxing event

Pampore: A 17-year old boy from Saffron town Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district has been selected for national and international championships to showcase his talent in martial arts.
Tabin Muzzafar Wagay son of Muzzafar Ahmad Wagay from Kadlabal Pampore is scheduled to compete in National MMA Championship in New Delhi and International Thai boxing championship in Dubai.
Tabin said that he was recently selected for the first Delhi open MMA championship in Dwarka which is scheduled to be held from 29-31 July
“I have been selected for the open international Thai boxing championship which is scheduled to be held from 12-14 August in Dubai, UAE,” he said.
He is the first junior player from the area to play in MMA Championship and international thai boxing championship.
He attributed his success to the training of his trainer Sajad Ahmad Bhat and said it was only possible because of his guidance that he got selected for national and international championship.
“My family has been very supportive for me as well,” he said.
Tabin says he was interested in martial arts since his childhood and started taking part in events at school level followed by district, state and then national level. “I have won several medals in this sport as well,” he said.
He said performing at international level will be a dream come true moment for him. “My aim will be to win gold medals in both events to make my family proud,” he said.
Tabin’s family members are equally hopeful that he will perform well in both stages and make the whole J&K proud.
