DGP sanctions 1.82 Cr as special welfare relief

Srinagar: The Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh has sanctioned Special Welfare Relief (SWR) of Rs 1.82 crore as financial succor to the families of the Police personnel who have passed away while in service.
In a handout issued here, the police spokesman said that DGP also sanctioned financial assistance of rupees one lakh for the marriage ceremony of martyred SPO’s daughter.
SWR of Rs 22 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents and legal heirs of deceased ASI Satish Kumar, ASI Tarseem Lal, HC Khalid Mehmood, HC Romesh Chander, W/HC Shakeela Akhter, HC Mohammad Yousf, HC Ghulam Hassan and Ct. Farhad Ali.
“These personnel passed away due to illness, road accidents and natural death while in service,” the handout reads.
Also, Rs 6 lakh has also been sanctioned in favour of NoKs of deceased SPO Sukhdev Raj who expired due to illness during the course of his engagement.
Rs 1 lakh each has already been paid to NoKs of these deceased Police personnel through their concerned units for performing last rites.
“The SWR is sanctioned out of Contributory Police Welfare Funds,” it reads.
The DGP has also sanctioned Rs one lakh as financial assistance in favour of NoKs of martyr SPO to defray the expenses in connection with the marriage ceremony of his daughter.
“Police Headquarters is running many schemes for the welfare of its personnel and their families. There are also schemes for the wards of Police personnel and SPOs,” the handout reads.
Besides, there are schemes for the NoKs of martyrs, their wards and also for the retired Police personnel and their spouses.
