Anantnag: The residents of Adlash Magam village in Srigufwara hamlet of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday expressed their dismay over the failure of the authorities to provide facilities of potable water.
The residents said that they are forced to drink contaminated water as the concerned department has failed to provide them drinking water for the last 15 days.
They said some of the households get supply in part of Adlash village, however, most of the village did not receive supply for the last 15 days,” a resident said.
“Our supply gets defunct frequently due to which the whole area is forced to drink contaminated water,” said Rameez Ahmad, a local resident.
“Last year we were told that we will get water from a new water supply scheme, but now both the old and new schemes are defunct,” he said.
Locals alleged that the area is being neglected due to unknown reasons.
“We brought this issue to the notice of higher ups several times but to no avail,” he said.
They urged the concerned authorities to look into the matter at an earliest and take immediate steps for providing potable water to the area.
