Cattle theft case: Five accused arrested, stolen cattles recovered: Police

Srinagar: The J&K Police in Srinagar have solved a Cattle theft case and arrested five accused persons involved in the commission of crime, a police spokesman said on Friday.
He said the Police has recovered stolen cattles worth lakhs from the possession of the arrested.
“Police Station Sangam Eidgah received a written complaint from Mushtaq Ahmad on July 4 stating that some unknown burglars entered into their cow shed located at Saidpora Sangam and tried to steal two cows from their Cow shed but were chased away by people,” the police handout reads.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 24/2022 relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Sangam and investigation was set into motion, it reads.
“On receipt of this information, a special team was constituted and during the examination of technical evidences and CCTV footages near the place of occurrence, one vehicle bearing Regd no Jk16A 5693 was identified in cctv footage which was used in commission of crime and was seized,” it reads.
The handout reads that after strenuous efforts, the accused person identified as Hilal Ahmad Chopan son of Abdul Gani Chopan from Hayin Palpora Kangan presently at Rakh colony Noorbagh Srinagar was arrested.
“On his disclosure, stolen Cattles which include two cows , two calves were recovered from his possession which he had kept inside his rented premises located at Rakh colony Noorbagh,” the police handout reads.
“During investigation of the case it surfaced that four more accused persons Namely Ab Majeed Kumar S/o Ghulam Nabi Kumar from Lalpora Lolab, Bilal Ahmad Ahangee S/o Mohammad Sideeq Ahanger, Hilal Ahmad Ahanger S/o Mohammad Sultan Ahanger from Nagbal Yusmarg and Zaffaer Iqbal Malik S/o Gulzar Ahmad Malik from Reasi presently at Seki dafar were involved in the said case,” it reads.
Further two Cows along With five calves and seven goats were recovered from Pulwama ,Kangan and khunmoh Srinagar on their disclosure which they had stolen from Check Mujgund Shalteng, Mirgund ,Singhpora Hygam and Tujjar sharief sopore.
“Concerned police stations were intimated for further course of action. General public is once again advised to install CCTV cameras as it helps in solving such crimes,” the handout reads.
