Anantnag: The residents of several villages of Anantnag district on Thursday demanded widening of the vital Janglatmandi- Donipawa road.
The residents of Janglat Mandi, Donipawa and Shirpora area of Anantnag said that all roads in the area have been widened but this very vital patch of around two kilometres was left out by the authorities.
“This road connects dozens of villages to district headquarters besides vital GMC Anantnag,” Shabir Ahmad, a local resident said.
“Due to the narrowness of the road, sometimes patients get stuck in traffic jams on the road for hours,” he said.
Irshad Ahmad, another resident of the area, said the stretch witnesses massive traffic gridlock due to the narrow width of the road.
“School going children, elderly persons and patients mainly suffer due to traffic jams on the road,” he said.
Locals said that they brought this issue to the notice of higher ups several times who only gave verbal assurances for its widening.
“But on ground no work is being done,” locals said.
They requested higher ups particularly the DC Anantnag to look into the matter at an earliest so that road can be widened and people can heave a sigh of relief.
