Recovers Rs 45200 fine from 35 erring shopkeepers

Srinagar: The Enforcement squad of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCSCA) department Kashmir has sealed five mutton shops and recovered a fine of Rs 45200 from 35 erring shopkeepers during two day inspection of shops. The shopkeepers were penalised for violation of the Essential Commodities (EC) Act, 1955.
The squad imposed fines and sealed the shops during market checking drive of various areas of Srinagar City including Ahmad Nagar, Gulab Bagh, Zakura, Nowshara, Lal Bazar, Khonmoh, Dalgate, Sonawar, Batamaloo, Karan Nagar, Rajbagh, Jawahar Nagar, Nowgam, Rawalpora and other areas.
The drive was held under the leadership of Assistant Director Enforcement, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani.
During the market checking around 165 business establishments were inspected.
Meanwhile, during the month of June-2022, an amount of Rs 4.74 lakh fine has been collected from 880 erring traders for violating EC Act, besides 19 establishments also stand sealed in the entire valley.
The erring lot has been reprimanded to remain careful in future, the official handout reads.
The department will continue the drive in the same passion in future as well.
