Srinagar, June 12: Welcare Civil Society (WCS) Kupwara on Sunday welcomed the government’s move to augment the power grid infrastructure in the north Kashmir district.

Notably, the government has announced allotment of land at Wattain in Kupwara for construction of a grid station that will augment the power infrastructure in the district and will provide a huge relief for the residents of the district.

“The initiative has come at a time when people of the district had already submitted their demands to improve the power infrastructure in the district so that people can experience some relief especially during the winter season,” WCS said in a statement.

The decision of the government has also been welcomed by the district administration.

“Heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Lt Guv and CS for getting the grid augmentation project approved,” DC Kupwara tweeted.

Meanwhile, people in the frontier district also expressed their joy over the approval.

“The region was neglected as the power infrastructure in the district was never up to the mark,” a senior resident said, thanking the Lt Guv led administration for approving the grid augmentation project for the benefit of the common man in the district.

Notably, the WCS also thanked the Lt Guv Manoj Sinha, his principal secretary Niteshwar Kumar, Media Advisor to Lt Guv Yatish Yadav and other officials for ensuring that the proposal is approved at an earliest and people of the district experience huge improvement in the power sector.

“The project approval happened because of the sincere efforts by Principal Secretary to Lt Guv Niteshwar Kumar and DC Kupwara Khalid Jehangir who perused the project with vigor and got it approved in a short span of time,” the WCS said.
