The Global Day of Parents is observed on the 1st of June every year. The Day honors parents throughout the world. This is a momentous day to recognize the endless efforts of Parents and their sacrifices towards their young ones.
This day enhances the importance of being aware of one family’s mental and physical health and together working towards the betterment of it. US President Bill Clinton announced to mark this day in 1994 and since then the day is observed across the globe.
It is said that “respect for one’s parents is the highest duty of civil life”. We celebrate days honouring our parents such as Mother’s Day and father’s day but do we really focus enough on respecting them ?
The day aims to stimulate awareness of the importance of parenthood and its role in providing protection and the tools needed for positive development in children. There is no basis for children to disrespect their parents because respecting them is the only way of showing gratitude.
Notably, parents are the valid reasons of existence, and we should be courteous, provide for their need and help, as well as living by their expectation on moral grounds. The day pays respect and appreciates parents what they do for their children, their selfless commitment to children, and their lifelong sacrifice towards nurturing this relationship.
Being a parent is one of the most universal experiences, but it’s definitely not a walk in the park. For one, it has its challenges long before kids are even born. Throughout our lives, our parents lead us to be independent thinking individuals. As many of us know, those efforts can be challenging. The world is changing as quickly as they grow.
Parents are a beacon of a child’s life. They lay the foundation for children, and nurture and equip them with the skills that are necessary throughout life. Parents protect their children and make countless selfless sacrifices to ensure their growth. Parents are the most precious gifts anyone can get.
However, as not everyone has them, we must consider ourselves lucky if we do. They are the strength and support system of children and help them out always. Our parents love us and sacrifice a lot for our well-being. That means we have an even greater responsibility as a child to listen to our parents, respect them, be disciplined, be grateful for their dedication and hard work, and love them back. It is our duty to obey our parents, that is, to do always what they tell us to do. All that we have is given to us by our parent’s food, clothing and education. IN short our very existence is because of our parents.
In this world, we can’t see God but we have parents. In India, they are referred to as God. Since ancient times we are taught to respect parents and elders. Nowadays, due to a busy schedule, children are not able to spend their time with their parents.
Sometimes, we think our parents cannot understand us and they get in the way of our happiness. This is why many of us have experienced rebelling against our parents at some point especially when we were still adults.
However, we should not forget that our parents love us and all they want is the best for us. At times when they seem to be very strict, they just want to protect us from possible harm. People who lead busy lives hardly get time to disconnect from work and spend quality time with their parents.
Global Day of Parents helps such people to spend a full day with their parents. For the full and harmonious development of their personality, children should grow up in a family environment and in an atmosphere of happiness, love and understanding.
