Pulwama: Several important departments in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district are functioning without senior officials, which according to the locals is hampering the work out in these key departments.
Official sources said that positions that are lying vacant in the district include Deputy Director Employment, Executive Engineer Irrigation and Flood control, Chief Education Officer, ARTO Pulwama, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Pulwama and others.
They said that official posted at these important positions have either retired or have been transferred to other areas.
Some officials have been given additional charges of these positions but they fail to deliver as they already have to take care of their posting and assignments and their first preference remains to address the issues in their prime place of postings rather than devoting time and resources to positions they are holding as additional charge, locals alleged.
Meanwhile, various civil society members said that government must look into it and post officials at these positions permanently so that locals won’t have suffer.
They said that absence of officers hampers developmental work in the district.
They said that absence of officials is also creating hurdles in various service delivery systems as the lower staff fails to address the concern of a common man.
