Football players demand separate football ground in Anantnag town
Anantnag: Football players in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district have demanded a separate football stadium in the district.
The players said that the ground at main town Anantnag is very small and both cricket and football can’t be played at the same time in the ground.
“There are hundreds of sports lovers and players are associated with different sports. All of them have to come to the main ground for practices but it is not feasible that all can play and practice at the same venue,” the players said.
They said that whenever football players play match in the ground in Lal Chowk Anantnag, the cricket players are unable to play and they feel dejected and same happens when cricket players play in the ground and football players have to skip their matches and practice as well.
“The youth are very talented here and they want to show their talents in different games so there is need to build a separate infrastructure for every game so that the players won’t face any problem,” Zakir Ahmad, a cricketer from Anantnag said.
He said that sports Stadium Anantnag is small and is unable to cater to the demands and needs of the youth of the town.
“There is need to either keep this ground for cricket or football only and a separate infrastructure must be developed for other sports,” he said.
“Our youth are getting involved in drugs and other activities and there is need to develop more sports infrastructure so that that they can be engaged in sports activities and held back from drug addiction,” Rouf Ahmad, a football player said.
The players requested highers up to look into the matter and take immediate steps in this regard so that players can practice and prove their mettle at mega platforms.
