Police arrests four persons for illegal extraction of minerals

Srinagar: Acting tough against those involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, Police in Budgam arrested four persons and seized three vehicles and a JCB, a police spokesman said Friday.
He said that at various checkpoints established by police three tippers loaded with illegally extracted clay were intercepted Near FCI Chandpora, Patlibagh and Chandpora Crossing respectively.
The trippers bearing registration numbers JK04-7552, JK01P-3573 and JK01AG-7743 were seized and the drivers identified as Younis Ahmad Qazi son of Ghulam Ahmad Qazi resident of Watriwani, Showkat Ahmad Baba son of Ghulam Hassan Baba resident of Khadipora and Gulzar Ahmad Beigh son of Abdul Razzak Beigh resident of Khadipora were arrested.
Similarly, officers from Police Station Beerwah seized a JCB and arrested a driver for illegally extraction of soil at Hardumalpora Beerwah. He has been identified as Balvinder Singh son of Kulwant Singh resident of Jungal Bawani Gurdaspur Punjab.
In this regard, cases under relevant sections of law stands registered at respective police stations and investigation have been initiated, the spokesman added.
