Pulwama: The residents of Pathar Gulshan Pora area in Tral hamlet of south Kashmir’s Pulwama are up in arms against the PHE department for failing to provide drinking water facility to the area.
The residents of Pathar said that that they don’t have any potable water facility in the area due to which they have been suffering since decades.
In absence of any drinking water facility, we are forced to drink contaminated water of the canal due to which water borne diseases can break out any time in the area, they said.
They added that the children and elderly people often remain ill and the reason behind their ill health is that they are consuming contaminated water.
“Our area is without drinking water since decades and people have to tread several kilometers by foot to bring water from a spring,” a local said, they adding that authorities can easily use this spring source for providing water to the area.
“We have moved from pillar to post to get potable water in the area, however, except assurances we haven’t got anything as of now,” they said.
“Several times in the past we have visited offices of concerned executive engineer and other officials who assures that we will get water supply soon but on ground nothing is being done,” they added.
They requested higher ups to look into the matter and take immediate steps so that area gets potable water supply.
