Hajan-Satoora road in shambles, locals demand macadamisation

Pulwama: The vital road connecting several villages with Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district is in shambles for past several years with authorities falling to repair it, locals said.
They said that the road is in a dilapidated condition and the concerned authorities have been turning a blind eye towards it and have not taken up any repair works as well.
Due to dilapidated conditions of the road, thousands of people of several villages are suffering, they added.
The people have to undergo a lot trouble and in case of any health emergency or maternity cases they suffer a lot, they added.
“Due to the bad condition of the road the sumo services on the road has been also put on hold giving more tough time to the locals, especially students who have to use the road to reach their schools, the locals rued.
“The road has developed deep potholes. Even the pedestrians are not able to walk on the road. The road has become a source of daily inconvenience,” they said.
“Expecting mothers, patients and elderly are the worst sufferers due to the dilapidated road condition and they face immense inconveniences,” they added.
“We have brought this issue into the notice of higher ups several times but to no avail,” they said.
The residents appealed to Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha led administration and PMGSY officials to look into the issue, so that the problem is resolved as soon as possible.
An official of the PMGSY department said that they already have sent a proposal for reconstruction of the road and the approval is till aviated.
He said that work on the road will start once it will be approved.
