Police arrests drug peddlers in Kupwara
Srinagar: Police in Kupwara arrested four drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession, a police spokesman said.
He said that acting on a specific information, a police party arrested two drug peddlers who were identified as Javeed Ahmad Wani son of Mohammad Yousaf and Rayees Ahmad Khan son of Abdul Qayoom Khan both residents of Halmatpora. The duo was arrested when they were on way to sell charas among youth of the area to earn money. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Similarly in another action, a police party established a checkpoint at Tikker area of Kupwara. During checking, the alert team arrested two drug peddlers identified as Mohammad Hussain Lone son of Abdul Jabbar Lone resident of Mirnag Hyhama and Manzoor Ahmad Khoja son of Saifuddin Khoja resident of Manwan Awoora. On their personal search contraband substance was recovered from their possession, the spokesman added.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and further investigation is in progress, he added.
