GOC Pandey visits Sopore town, interacts with locals

Sopore: General Officer Commanding of Srinagar based Army’s 15 Chinar Corps, Lieutenant General D.P Pandey on Monday paid a surprise visit to Sopore town and interacted with local shopkeepers and ‘surrendered’ militants.
GOC interacted with the local shopkeepers and surrendered militants near clock tower at Iqbal market here in Sopore, besides took a walk along busy streets of the town.
Meanwhile, talking to media persons, GOC Pandey said that there is an atmosphere of peace prevailing in Kashmir Valley, while security grid is also fully prepared to deal with any kind of situation.
He said that people’s approach was changing with each passing day, he said that all the parameters of peace and prosperity are at the best and new normal is becoming the way of life in Jammu and Kashmir.
While giving a message to youth, D.P Pandey said that youth should shun the path of militancy and should follow the narrative of peace and development.
On being asked about recent petrol bomb attack on a CRPF bunker in Sopore, he said that it is only possible to control such kind of attacks when people of Jammu and Kashmir rises up against such elements who are trying to push militancy and create hurdle in establishing peace.
