Anantnag: The cab drivers in Sirhama area of Srigufwara Tehsil in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district have demanded a sumo stand in the area.
The cab drivers said that there are over 40 vehicles in Sirhama plying on different routes from Sirhama but there is no stand available for them to park their vehicles.
“Since last three years we have been moving from pillar to post to get sumo stand in the area but as of now no step has been taken by the concerned authorities,” they said.
“We are unable to park our vehicles at a single spot due to which they along with passengers are suffering a lot,” the cab drivers added.
“If we are not provided with space at an earliest then we will be left with no option then to sell our vehicles,” the drivers said.
“The officials are least bothered about the livelihood of over 40 families who are directly dependent on the plying of cabs,” they alleged.
They requested higher ups to look into the matter and provide the space to drivers for setting up a stand so that they along with passengers can heave a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile Tehsildar concerned Bashir Ahmad Lone, when contacted said that they have identified land at two spots and final call about choosing one spot will be taken by Deputy Commissioner Anantnag.
He added that within 15 days, the sumo stand in the area will be operational.
