Pulwama: Even after a lapse of around eight years, a vital bridge on Romshi rivulet in Rohmoo village of Pulwama district is awaiting completion, locals alleged
They said that the bridge was washed out during 2014 floods and since then people of this area have been facing hardships as authorities have failed to complete the construction works on the bridge since then.
Qayoom Khan, a local resident said that the bridge connects Pulwama district with neighbouring Budgam district and is of vital importance.
He said that many bridges which were approved after 2014 have been completed but this bridge has been left incomplete due to unknown reasons.
Another local resident said that the bridge is funded by world Bank and was taken up by JKPCC six years back and work was started accordingly, however, the department is yet to complete it due to which locals continue to face difficulties.
He said that the bridge connects Pulwama with Budgam district and work on the bridge is going on at snail’s pace and is in no way near completion.
He said that work on the bridge should be stepped up and it should be completed at an earliest.
Locals said that they have knocked doors of every authority but except assurances they have got nothing.
They once again requested concerned authorities to look into the matter and complete this project at an earliest so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.
Pertinently, the bridge at Rohmoo is being constructed at an estimated cost of 21.5 crore.
An official of JKPCC said that release of funds from World Bank took too much time due to which the construction works got delayed.
He added that work on bridge is going on and it will be completed as soon as possible.
